What’s the future of Land sector? Why go digital?
For decades, the Kenyan land sector has been marred by corruption, fraud, and illegal transactions in the acquisition of title documents. The weak link has been carrtels who lodge at Lands registries. With the land registration system being manual, land registration process has been riddled with inefficiencies. There is always the real likelihood of loss of records, destruction of records, theft, misfiling and general manipulation of land records and entries. This has led to frustration among stakeholders and the public when it comes to any dealings with the land registries.
This is where Ardhisasa comes in. It is an online platform that was developed jointly by the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, the National Land Commission and key partners in Government. It allows Kenyan Citizens, stakeholders and interested parties to interact with land information held and processes undertaken by the Government. It offers the following services: Land registration, Land administration, Physical planning, Survey & mapping, Valuation, Adjudication & settlement & National land commission. For one to use Ardhisasa, he or she has to: Create a user account by Accessing the Ardhisasa website and click on the “Register” icon. There are two types of registrations; individual and company.
The requirements are as follows:
NB; To use Ardhisasa one should upload correct/original documents. This is the future of all land dealings once our land has been fully updated on the website. Currently, the system only covers the Nairobi Registry- This means land in Nairobi that is registered under the now repealed Registered Land Act (“RLA”) i.e., properties with title numbers Nairobi/Block/…
